A dominant performance from Hastings sees them sitting on top of the ladder, the only team to have five wins from five matches this season, following their victory against Chelsea. The Blues powered through the first quarter, quickly escaping to an eight-goal lead.  Continuing to build on the groundwork they laid early, the Blues eased through the second and third quarters before obliterating the Seagulls with an 18-goal last quarter. The final margin between the two sides 24 goals.

Two of the strongest teams went head to head on the weekend and the sides did not disappoint. A competitive match between Crib Point and Seaford saw the Tigers take the win against the Magpies. Only two goals separated the team at half-time and then at three quarter time the margin remained with the Magpies breathing down the necks of their opponents. Despite the growing pressure, Seaford performed well to win the match by three goals.

Somerville kept Pearcedale to a winless season with a 21-goal victory at Pearcedale Reserve.

Langwarrin beat their rivals Karingal in the second tight match of the round by three goals. The Kangaroos led from the first quarter with a two-goal lead, which they then turned into five in the second and seven in the third. Getting ahead early was a saving grace Langwarrin who lost the final quarter to the Bullettes. Karingal scored 10-goals in the final term to Langwarrin’s six as they ran out of time to steal the win. Emily Bennet was strong under the net for Langwarrin while down the other end of the court, Joyce Oyay led the shooting for Karingal.

Red Hill outplayed Rye by 29-goals when the two sides met on the weekend. A fast start put Red Hill out in front early, finishing the first term nine goals ahead. The Demons fell further and further behind as the match went on, however, they can take some comfort in the fact that they only lost the final quarter by two goals. Red Hill’s Isabella Cuming was a key player, scoring 47 goals of her side’s 57 for the match.

Devon Meadows had passages of good play against Tyabb, however, were unable to defeat the Yabbies. Tyabb set the pace early, sitting comfortably ahead by 10-goals at half-time. However, the Panthers still had life in them, during the third quarter they halved the margin and challenged Tyabb. Sensing the danger, Tyabb blew their opponents away in the final quarter, keeping the Panthers to only one goal while they scored nine of their own to win the match by 13.
